The Inside Scoop on Kathy

Hello my name is Kathy Smith.

I am now currently enrolled in college pursuing a degree in the Medical Office Administration. My main goal is to push myself in the billing and coding side of the industry.

My strongest point is my customer service skills. I have worked within customer based businesses for over eighteen years.

I also have many years of supervision and office skills. One of the reasons I have enrolled in school is to keep up with technology and upgrade my skills to accommodate today’s growing need for technically skilled persons in the work force.

I worked in the Telecommunications field for 10 years. I started in the field repairing the distribution lines and worked my way up to supervisor. As a supervisor I was in charge of the daily service for the company in my area.

I also designed distribution lines, drew up maps and ordered parts so that contractors could complete work

I made sure all paperwork was up to date. I made all proposals and sent to corporate for final approval. Once proposals were approved I called all distributors and ordered parts needed for job. Once parts were received I contacted my contractors and made sure the jobs were completed.

I created yearly budgets.

I then worked for Duke Power for five years as a lead person. My duties in included completing all paperwork and reports and sending them to corporate. It was my responsibility to supervise employees to make sure all schedules tasks were completed.

I then took a position at an appliance store as the general manager. There I ensured all customers service and needs were taken care of. I scheduled and ordered parts for customers jobs to be completed. I also completed filing claims so that we could receive payment.

I have years of customer service and people skills. I have worked with many types of hardware and software for computers.  I have used all windows based programs and Quickbooks. As I stated before I am in school now and I will be reviewing and learning most of the new programs, which may be used in any office setting.

I am a hard working person who takes proud in the job I do. Work values are very important to me. I am a eager person who feels the need to push myself to the top. One of the reasons I am enroled in college now is that I want to instill these work ethics in my children. I want to let them know that if you want something, you have to work hard for it, be better than the best you can at it.

I hope this gives you a little insight into my background and work beliefs.
